About MeanRank

MeanRank is a modern movie ranking platform that combines ratings from top film platforms into one clear, easy-to-understand score. We aim to cut through biased hype, isolated opinions, and fragmented scores by aggregating all key sources into a single, reliable **mean percentage**.

We believe in objectivity, transparency, and simplicity. Whether you're a casual viewer or a serious film enthusiast, MeanRank helps you make informed decisions faster.

How the Mean Score Is Calculated

We convert all ratings to a standard 0–100% scale and then average them. Each platform has its own rating format, and we normalize them like this:

  • Google: out of 5 → (score ÷ 5) × 100
  • IMDb: out of 10 → (score ÷ 10) × 100
  • Letterboxd: out of 5 → (score ÷ 5) × 100
  • Rotten Tomatoes: Tomatometer & Audience Score are already in %
  • Metacritic: Metascore is already in %, User Score (÷10 × 100)
  • Criticker: out of 100 → used directly

Only available ratings are used. If one platform lacks data, it's excluded from that movie's average.

What MeanRank Grades Mean

To make things easier to grasp at a glance, we assign a letter grade based on the mean score:

  • A+: 90–100% – Masterpiece
  • A: 80–89% – Excellent
  • B: 70–79% – Very Good
  • C: 60–69% – Fair / Mixed
  • D: 50–59% – Below Average
  • F: Below 50% – Poor / Not Recommended

These ranks help you identify quality instantly without having to interpret 6 different scores.
