A Prophet (2009)
A young, illiterate Frenchman of Arab descent is sentenced to six years in prison. Alone and vulnerable, he is forced by a powerful Corsican gang to carry out a hit on another inmate. This violent act grants him protection but effectively makes him an indentured servant. He slowly learns to navigate the brutal hierarchies of the prison system, using his intelligence to build his own power base from within.
