Altered States (1980)
A brilliant but obsessive psychologist experiments with sensory deprivation tanks and hallucinogenic drugs, seeking to unlock different states of human consciousness. His experiments become increasingly radical, causing him to experience regressive, primal visions. He begins to physically devolve into a primitive, apelike state, threatening his life and his sanity.
