Battleship Potemkin (1925)
The film dramatizes the 1905 mutiny on the Russian battleship Potemkin. After being served maggot-ridden meat, the sailors revolt against their oppressive officers. The rebellion sparks a wave of revolutionary fervor and a bloody confrontation with the Tsarist regime on the Odessa Steps, a landmark of early cinema.
