Central Station (1998)
A bitter, retired schoolteacher writes letters for illiterate people at Rio de Janeiro's central station. She meets a young boy whose mother is killed just after writing a letter to his estranged father. Reluctantly, she agrees to accompany the boy on a journey across Brazil to find his father. The arduous trip through the country's hinterlands forces a connection between the jaded woman and the hopeful child.
