Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
A paranoid U.S. Air Force general, acting on his own, orders a nuclear bomber squadron to attack targets inside the Soviet Union. The American President and his advisors, including a strange German scientist, frantically try to recall the planes to prevent a global apocalypse. Their efforts are complicated by the Soviet's secret "Doomsday Device," which is designed to automatically destroy all life on Earth if a nuclear strike occurs, leading to a frantic and absurd political and military comedy of errors.
