English Vinglish (2012)
A traditional Indian housewife, who is an amazing cook but speaks little English, often feels underestimated by her well-meaning but condescending family. While on a trip to New York to help plan her niece's wedding, she decides to take a secret crash course in English. The classes become a journey of self-discovery where she befriends a diverse group of people and slowly gains confidence. This secret endeavor empowers her to find her own voice and assert her worth, both to her family and, more importantly, to herself.
