Farewell My Concubine (1993)
The lives of two boys training at a Peking Opera academy are followed over fifty years of Chinese history. They are bound together by their art, playing opposite each other in a famous opera about a king and his concubine. Their intense personal and professional relationship is tested by political upheavals, romantic rivalries, and the immense cultural changes sweeping through 20th-century China.
