GasLand (2010)
When a gas company offers Josh Fox a lucrative deal to drill on his family’s land in Pennsylvania, he embarks on a cross-country investigation. He visits communities affected by a new drilling method called hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.” He discovers disturbing evidence of contaminated water supplies, with residents able to set their tap water on fire. The documentary reveals the personal stories of people facing health issues and environmental degradation, challenging the narrative of natural gas as a clean alternative and exposing a looming national energy crisis.
