Harakiri (1962)
During a period of peace in 17th-century Japan, a masterless samurai arrives at the estate of a powerful feudal lord. He calmly requests permission to commit ritual suicide within their courtyard. As the clan's officials prepare to observe the ceremony, the samurai begins to tell them the intricate and tragic story of his life, slowly revealing his true connection to the house and the real motive behind his solemn request.
