Ivan's Childhood (1962)
A young boy works as a scout for the Soviet army during World War II. He is fiercely brave and driven by a desire for revenge against the Germans who killed his family. The film juxtaposes the brutal reality of war with fleeting, poetic glimpses of the peaceful childhood and innocence that has been stolen from him.
