K-19: The Widowmaker (2002)
The crew of the Soviet Union's first nuclear ballistic submarine embark on its maiden voyage during the height of the Cold War. Tensions between the captain and his executive officer are exacerbated when a critical reactor failure occurs, threatening a catastrophic meltdown that could provoke a nuclear war. The men must perform a suicidal repair to prevent disaster, facing certain death from radiation poisoning.
