Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001)
In a drought-stricken Indian village under British rule, the cruel captain imposes an oppressive tax. A brave young villager challenges the officers to a game of cricket: if the villagers win, the tax is canceled for three years; if they lose, they must pay triple the tax. The villagers must learn the alien game to save themselves.
