Mary and Max (2009)
In the 1970s, a lonely, eight-year-old girl from the suburbs of Melbourne randomly picks a name from a New York phonebook and writes a letter to a middle-aged man. He is an obese man with Asperger's syndrome living a life of isolation. Thus begins an unlikely pen-pal friendship that spans two decades and continents, as they share their thoughts on life, love, and chocolate hot dogs, forming a unique bond that helps them navigate a world they don't quite understand.
