Mermaid Down (2019)
A mermaid is captured by poachers, who sever her tail and imprison her in a mental institution, where she is deemed delusional for claiming to be a sea creature. Trapped in a human body and surrounded by patients struggling with their own realities, she forms bonds with three women. Together, they plot an escape to return her to the ocean. The mermaid's presence and determination inspire her new friends to confront their own captors, both literal and figurative, in a story about finding strength in solidarity and the will to be free. Nerkonda Paarvai (2012019) A retired lawyer, known for his fierce courtroom skills and unwavering principles, lives a quiet life. He is drawn back into the legal world when three young women are falsely accused of a serious crime. Despite overwhelming evidence and a biased system stacked against them, he agrees to defend them. The case becomes a battle against deep-seated misogyny and a society quick to judge women. The lawyer fights not just to prove their innocence, but to challenge the patriarchal notions that led to their persecution.
