Metropolis (1927)
In a vast, futuristic city, society is divided into two classes: the wealthy planners who live in luxury high above and the workers who toil underground operating the machines that power the city. The son of the city's master becomes infatuated with a prophetic worker and begins to see the vast inequality, threatening the city's rigid order.
