Murder in the First (1995)
A young, idealistic public defender is assigned to represent a man accused of a murder committed just after he escaped from Alcatraz. The lawyer uncovers a brutal story of his client's prolonged solitary confinement and abuse at the hands of the prison's ruthless associate warden. He argues that the prison system, not his client, is ultimately responsible for the crime.
