Neds (2010)
John McGill is a bright and promising boy from a tough working-class neighborhood in 1970s Glasgow. He is determined to escape his violent surroundings through academic achievement. However, the systemic brutality of his environment and the influence of his delinquent older brother slowly pull him into the world of the “Non-Educated Delinquents” (NEDs) he once despised. John’s intelligence becomes a weapon as he descends into a cycle of aggression, his future threatened by the very culture he sought to transcend.
