In 1988 Chile, a young, charismatic advertising executive is approached by the opposition leaders to lead their campaign for the national plebiscite. The vote will determine whether dictator Augusto Pinochet remains in power for another eight years. While the "Yes" campaign promotes fear and stability, the "No" campaign, led by the executive, decides to sell hope and happiness, using bright colors, jingles, and upbeat imagery—the language of commercials—to counter 15 years of military rule. This innovative approach changes the face of political campaigning.
