Paths of Glory (1957)
During World War I, a French army colonel is ordered to lead his exhausted men in a suicidal attack on a heavily fortified German position. When the attack fails, the generals order the court-martial of three innocent soldiers chosen at random from the ranks to be executed for cowardice, as an example to others. The colonel must now defend the men against the kangaroo court.
