Benni, a nine-year-old girl, is a "system crasher"—a child so traumatized and explosive that the German child services system cannot contain her. She desperately wants to go home to her mother, but her violent outbursts make that impossible. She is bounced between temporary homes, special schools, and caregivers, each placement failing as her rage overwhelms them. A dedicated youth welfare worker tries to find a solution, but Benni's deep-seated trauma and fierce resistance to help create a heartbreaking cycle that threatens to consume everyone who tries to get close to her.
