In a 1960s middle school, awkward teenager Andy Nichol is paired with the school's biggest outcast, Stanley "Big G" for a class project. Andy is initially embarrassed, but through their work, he learns to see beyond Stanley's unusual appearance. Their story unfolds under the guidance of their beloved teacher, Mr. Simon, a compassionate man who is himself the target of malicious rumors. The film explores themes of tolerance, kindness, and the pain of prejudice through Andy's eyes as he navigates the challenges of adolescence.
