A hypnotist and somnambulist arrives at a German mountain village, presenting Cesare, a sleepwalker who can predict the future. The narrator suspects that the mysterious Dr. Caligari is using Cesare to commit a series of murders in the town, leading him on a investigation into the doctor's secrets.
