The Dark Crystal (1982)
On a alien world, a gentle Gelfling orphan discovers a shard of a powerful crystal. He learns that the crystal was broken a thousand years ago, allowing the vile Skeksis to rule. He must embark on a perilous journey to find the missing shard and heal the crystal before the next planetary alignment, which would allow the Skeksis to rule forever.
