The Deer Hunter (1978)
The lives of a close-knit group of friends from a small Pennsylvania steelworking town are forever changed when they are drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. The story follows their experiences before, during, and after the war, exploring how the extreme trauma of combat and captivity tests their bonds of friendship and fractures their sense of reality, leaving them profoundly altered upon their return home.
