The Flowers of War (2011)
During the brutal Japanese occupation of Nanjing, a self-interested American mortician finds refuge in a cathedral. He is compelled to protect a group of schoolgirls and courtesans who are also hiding within the church walls. He must step up and use his wits to shield them from the horrors unfolding outside, transforming from a bystander into a protector.
