The reluctant Duke of York is forced to ascend the throne of England as King George VI. His debilitating stammer makes public speaking a torment and a liability for the monarchy on the eve of WWII. With the help of an unorthodox Australian speech therapist, he engages in a series of exercises to overcome his impediment and find his voice, preparing for the most important speech of his life.
