The Mission (1986)
In 18th-century South America, a Spanish Jesuit priest establishes a mission to convert a community of Guarani Indians. He is joined by a reformed slave trader seeking penance. When a treaty transfers the land from Spain to Portugal, the mission is threatened with destruction, forcing the priests to choose between their vow of non-violence and armed resistance to protect their converts.
