The Turin Horse (2011)
In 1889, a German philosopher witnesses a carthorse being whipped in Turin. This story begins with that event and imagines the life of the horse and its owner. An elderly carter and his daughter live a stark, repetitive existence in a small, windswept farmhouse. Their daily routine consists of basic survival: drawing water, eating a single boiled potato, and tending to the horse, which has suddenly refused to move or eat. Over six days, a relentless windstorm batters their home as their grim existence gradually and mysteriously deteriorates further.
