The War of the Worlds (1953)
The residents of a small California town witness a fiery meteor crash. They soon discover it is the arrival of a Martian war machine, which begins a ruthless attack with a devastating heat-ray. As more machines emerge across the globe, humanity's armies are powerless against the alien technology, and society collapses into panic, forcing people to confront the possibility of their own extinction.
