To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
In a sleepy Alabama town during the Great Depression, a young girl and her brother experience the events of a pivotal summer. Their father, a principled lawyer, is appointed to defend a black man falsely accused of a serious crime. The trial exposes the deep-seated racial prejudices of the community, and the children witness the courage required to stand up for what is right in the face of hatred and ignorance.
