A struggling horror writer, Hall Baltimore, arrives in a small town for a book signing and becomes entangled in a local mystery involving the death of a young girl. The town's eccentric sheriff, who is also an aspiring writer, proposes they collaborate on a book about the case. Hall begins to experience bizarre dreams and visions, often involving the ghost of the girl and a mysterious young woman named V. He finds himself lost between reality and a surreal dreamscape, struggling to distinguish the truth of the murder from his own macabre imagination.
