An American lawyer travels to a remote village in Germany to defend a peculiar, hulking man accused of a series of brutal, animalistic murders. The evidence seems overwhelming, but she becomes convinced there is more to the case than meets the eye. Teaming up with a zoologist, she investigates the possibility that the accused is suffering from a rare medical condition. Their pursuit of the truth leads them into the dark folklore of the region and a confrontation with a terrifying reality that blurs the line between man and beast.
