At a prestigious preparatory school, an charismatic English teacher, who has lost some of his passion, and a fiercely intelligent new art teacher, who is grappling with a physical disability, find themselves in a heated rivalry. They agree to a contest to settle which is more powerful: the written word or the visual image. This competition engages their students and invigorates the entire school, but it also forces the two educators to confront their own insecurities, artistic blockages, and the unexpected attraction growing between them.
